DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia is clarifying some things after his now-viral response to missing Gangsta Boo’s funeral, but he tells TMZ Hip Hop that he was still on the front lines when it mattered the most.
In a statement, the rapper who won an Oscar confirmed that he wouldn’t be there, but he did say that he helped pay for it.
He says, “It bothers me a lot that I even had to talk about the negative things that were being said behind the scenes. I planned and paid for most of Boo’s funeral. Others tried to help as a way to show Boo they cared. We all liked Boo, so it made sense to include them.”

We heard that Juicy J, 8Ball & MJG, and other family members helped pay for the services, and Paul wants the whole thing to be over with.
He concludes, “I’ve already said why I didn’t go to the funeral, and this is why: I don’t think it’s right to bring attention to it. Our relationship with Boo was just between us, and she knew (and still knows) where my heart was. No one needs me to explain that.”
Paul’s angry response to his fans on Instagram came at 4 a.m. on Sunday. He told them that when he goes to funerals, groupies and freeloaders show up.

Paul also gave the trolls a history lesson, in which he said that he found Gangsta Boo when he was a teenager and oversaw all of her hit records.
Still, there were a lot of people at the funeral. Drumma Boy, La Chat and GloRilla, Hittkidd, Memphitz, and Glitter Gloss were among the artists who came to pay their respects at the Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS.
