Selena Gomez wants everyone to “calm down,” to use the name of a song she put out last year.
Calm way, way, way, way down, she would probably add.
After hearing about all of the criticism Hailey Baldwin has been getting lately, the actress and artist posted a message on her Instagram Story on March 24.
Some people with bad intentions have said some really bad things to her.
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez began, adding in admirable fashion:
“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying.
“I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this to all stop.”

Selena’s serious ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber is married to Selena’s ex-girlfriend Hailey Baldwin.
Gomez’s message came about a month after she addressed rumors that Hailey and her friend Kylie Jenner said mean things about her on social media. In a February 22 TikTok post, she called the rumors “unnecessary.”
Since then, Hailey has gotten a lot of negative comments on social media, which is why Selena has decided to defend her.
She wants everyone to know that Hailey and she are not competitors.
Selena also got into more trouble with Hailey when she replied to a recently resurfaced video of the model making fun of her close friend Taylor Swift.
The video showed Hailey and her co-host Method Man on their old show, Drop the Mic.
When the rapper said “Taylor Swift’s last album,” Hailey acted like she was going to throw up, stuck her tongue out, and rolled her eyes.
In the comments section of the popular video, Gomez showed her support for Swift by writing:
“I’m sorry, my best friend is and always has been one of the best in the game.”
After what happened, Gomez said she was going to stop using social media for a while.
“I’m going to take a break from social media for a second because this is a bit silly. I’m 30 and this isn’t for me anymore. In a TikTok video, the singer said, “I love you so much and I’ll see you guys sooner rather than later.”
Soon after, Gomez posted a video of herself doing a makeup tutorial on the video-sharing site with the caption:
“Thank you so much, and I really love you all. I’m very thankful for every single one of you. You make me unbelievably happy.”
In a September interview on Call Her Daddy, Hailey talked about the criticism she gets about how long she and Bieber have been together.
“A lot of the hatred and spreading of it comes from people saying things like, ‘Oh, you stole Justin,'” she said.
“Well, I guess that could be because they wanted him to end up with someone else. And that’s all right. You can wish for that all you want, but it won’t happen.”
At the time, Hailey added that she only “loves” Gomez.
