Lizzo is making a case for herself.
A couple of days after some of Lizzo’s former backup dancers filed a shocking lawsuit against her, claiming that she sexually harassed and mistreated them, she released a statement in which she denied doing anything wrong.
On August 3, the “About Damn Time” singer said that these accusations were “too outrageous” not to talk about on her Instagram account.
She then gave them a long answer.

The first part of Lizzo’s message on Instagram said, “These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly hard and overly disappointing.””People have asked me about my work ethic, my morals, and how respectful I am. People have said bad things about me.”Usually, I don’t respond to false accusations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed.”
On Tuesday, the above legal papers were filed against Lizzo, her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., and the captain of her dance team, Shirlene Quigley.

In this lawsuit, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez say that Lizzo forced them to touch naked performers at a club in Amsterdam and also made fun of their weight. In response, Lizzo went on:”These sensationalized stories come from former employees who have already said in public that they were told their behavior on tour was wrong and unprofessional.
“I’ve always been very passionate about what I do as an artist. I take my music and performances very seriously because, at the end of the day, I only want to put out the best art that represents me and my fans.”

All of the women say that Lizzo fired them this spring.
They say the four-time Grammy winner fired one because of a bad attitude and another because she recorded Lizzo giving her performance notes and then quickly deleted the video when she realized what she had done.
In one shocking part of the civil complaint, the three people say that their bosses forced them to eat a banana from a performer’s vagina at a sex show in Amsterdam.
They also say they were forced to work “grueling” 12-hour days and were wrongly accused of things like drinking on the job while being laughed at and made to feel bad about their bodies.

The lawsuit also says that dance captain Quigley put people down who had sex before marriage, tried to convert people around her, and “overshared her masturbation habits and sex life with her husband.”

“The respect we deserve as women in the world is the most important thing to me,” Lizzo says now.”I know what it’s like to be shamed about my body every day, and I would never criticize or fire someone because of their weight.”Here’s what she said in the end:
“This hurts, but I won’t let it take away from the good things I’ve done in this world.
“I want to thank everyone who has helped me through this tough time by reaching out to me.”
