The Woman King is a historical epic movie based on true events and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The Woman King is the story of the Agojie, the all-female warrior unit who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century, with fierceness and skills unlike any others. It follows General Nanisca (Viola Davis) as she trains the next generation of recruits and gets them ready for battle against an enemy determined to destroy their way of life. Also starring in The Woman King are Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, John Boyega, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Adrienne Warren, Jayme Lawson, and Masali Baduza.
