Before they went their separate ways, the former “One Tree Hill” actor and the business owner kept their relationship mostly private. They were friends, then engaged, then married, and then they went their separate ways.
On August 4, TODAY.com reported that after 13 months of marriage, Bush had filed for divorce from Grant. Bush is well-known in Hollywood, but he became the center of attention when she started dating Grant.

Grant Hughes is a business owner and investor in real estate who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He likes to travel and wants to help people, which brought him together with Bush and her charitable work, they told Vogue.
According to his LinkedIn, he went to the University of Oklahoma and got a Bachelor of Business Administration in entrepreneurship and venture management. Loyola Marymount University also gave him a master’s degree in education.
Hughes also has a master’s degree in environmental psychology and decision-making from the University of Michigan and an MBA in strategy, innovation, and design thinking.

Hughes can do a lot of different things. He started and ran Drink Good Wine, a company that helps its members find the best wines.

How did Grant Hughes and Sophia Bush meet?
Vogue said the two met on a New Year’s trip to Nicaragua ten years ago.
Bush told the magazine, “We became fast friends, but we only saw each other a few times a year because we both had to travel for work all the time.”
When did Sophia Bush start dating Grant Hughes?
Vogue said the two got back in touch when the pandemic started in 2020. They talked about books, did good deeds together, and shared articles. Then they started FaceTiming, which led to them going out together.
In a January 2021 Instagram post, a photo of the two wearing face masks was hidden in a slideshow.
Hughes wrote about the picture in the caption, “Our first date was also our first Covid test.”

Grant didn’t wait long before he asked her to marry him. Hughes booked a sightseeing tour on a classic Riva boat for the two of them when they went to Lake Como, Italy, in August 2021. During the golden hour, he asked Bush to marry him. The two would later tell the world and their Instagram followers about the news.
“So it turns out that being your favorite person’s favorite person is the best feeling on Earth,” Bush wrote with the now-deleted Instagram photo of Hughes getting down on one knee on the boat and putting a ring on her finger.
Hughes also shared photos from their engagement in his own Instagram post.
