Megan Hilty Speaks Out About Her Sister, Brother-in-Law, and Nephew’s Death in a Seaplane Crash: ‘Truly No Words’
Megan Hilty reported the horrific deaths of her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in a seaplane crash off the coast of Washington on Wednesday night (Sept. 7).
“A small float plane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island on Sunday afternoon.” “On that plane were my dear sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross, and infant nephew Remy,” she wrote alongside heartwarming images of the trio on Instagram. “To make matters worse, my sister was eight months pregnant, and we planned to welcome our newborn boy Luca into the world next month.”
“The last three days have been the most difficult of our life.” “There are just no words to communicate the depth of our sadness adequately,” the Smash alum added that she finally made a public statement because many news sources “misgendered my darling nephew and others haven’t even addressed baby Luca.” She also stated in the message that the couple is survived by Remy’s sister, who was not on the plane, and requested that the girl’s identity be kept confidential.
“These details must be fixed to honor everyone we’ve lost and the loved ones they’ve left behind,” Hilty said. “Everyone in our family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support.” It’s been so reassuring to see how much Lauren, Ross, Remy, and Luca are truly loved.”
In the comments, Hilty’s friends, admirers, and members of her Broadway community rallied around the tragic news, with Cheyenne Jackson commenting, “Haven’t stopped thinking about your family.” I adore you. “I’m here to help you.” Eden Espinosa, who co-starred in Wicked alongside Hilty, said, “Surrounding you and every member of your family with love and light.” There aren’t any words. “I only care about my pal.”
