There is a group of Sister Wives fans out there who have an unusual opinion about the show:
They don’t want to see the show go on.
The 18th season of this reality show will start on Sunday, August 20 at 10/9c, TLC said at the end of last month.
From the first trailer for future episodes? The situation is about to get worse.
But here’s the thing:
Sister wives are no longer a thing.
Christine broke up with Kody Brown in November 2021, and Janelle did the same near the end of 2022. On January 10 this year, Meri announced that she and Kody were ending their marriage.
So, Kody is now only married to Robyn, who most people have thought for years is the only person he really cares about.
How, then, can a show called Sister Wives go on?
This is the question being asked by some people on social media right now.
“I think you mean Sister-less Wife!” one fan wrote on Wednesday, August 2, after the network posted a new preview for Season 18 on Instagram.
This person was mostly making a joke, but others are serious when they say they don’t like that Sister Wives keeps going even though so many couples are breaking up.
One fan wrote, “I think the show should have ended when Christine left because a lot happened in the last season.”
“Why would there still be a show? There are no sister wives,” said another viewer, and a third said the following:
“Because I love God. “TAKE THE SHOW OUT OF THEIR MISERY!”
Why does it have to suffer? Since Kody broke up with three of his wives, the show has gotten more attention than ever before.
This summer, Variety talked to the showrunner of Sister Wives and the president of Discovery Networks and TLC about what was going on with the show.
In this expose, the second woman said, “I hope Sister Wives doesn’t end.”
Chris Poole, who runs the show, said in the same article:
“Always something is happening. Because they are who they are, I’m sure there will always be something going on.”
