Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, who have been living apart in recent weeks, have each retained divorce attorneys and are “exploring their options” regarding their marriage, according to a source close to the separated pair.
According to a source close to the marriage, Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback who presently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his wife, fashion model Gisele Bündchen, have been dealing with “marital troubles.”
The couple, who married in 2009, have been “living separately,” according to a source close to Bündchen, who spoke to CNN in September.
Brady, 45, announced his retirement from the NFL in February, only to change his decision. According to his head coach, Todd Bowles, he took an 11-day leave of absence from training camp in August to “deal with personal problems.”
Bündchen, 42, told Elle magazine last month that she had “concerns” about her spouse returning to the field after first retiring last winter.
“This is a very harsh sport, and I have children, and I would like him to be more present,” Bündchen explained to the tabloid. “I’ve absolutely had those chats with him numerous times. But, in the end, I believe that everyone must make a decision that is best for [them]. He, too, must follow his joy.”
Brady recently discussed some of the personal expenses of playing in the NFL for two decades on his podcast.
“I haven’t had a Christmas in 23 years, or a Thanksgiving in 23 years, and I haven’t celebrated birthdays with people I care about who were born between August and late January.” “And I’m not able to attend funerals or weddings,” Brady explained. “I believe there comes a time in your life when you say to yourself, ‘You know what? ‘I’ve got my fill, and it’s time to move on, to other aspects of life.'”
